Ljubljana is not very big and can be explored in one day. This does not make this city any less beautiful. We visited the botanical garden and checked out the alternative art center Metelkova.
After starting the day with a breakfast we explored the many cute little streets of Ljubljana. We passed the Dragon Bridge, strolled across the central market and drank the probably best coffee in town at Črno Zrno Specialty Coffee.
I love to explore all the botanical gardens around the world so we visited the one in Ljubljana in the afternoon. It’s a cute and wild little garden and a great place to find a few minutes of peace in the city.
In the evening we visited Metelkova, an alternative and autonomous centre for politics and culture in the centre of Ljubljana.
The formerly empty barracks complex, which was occupied by artists and activists, is now a creative place. A few clubs are located here. In addition to music, artistic performances and exhibitions take place here, as well as occasional festivals. Every evening, the lively events are attended by a diverse audience. Here you can meet many students and visitors from abroad.
By the way, in Metelkova it is forbidden to take pictures where other people can be seen in order to protect the inhabitants there.
