We stayed the night in the Fermeda hut and started to hike up the steep hill early before sunrise. We arrived at the top of Seceda just in time for sunrise.
The alarm clock rang very early. Way too early for me. Nevertheless my photographer’s heart beats faster at the word sunrise and so Felix and I set off to take some pictures on the Seceda elevation. We hiked through the twilight and reached the highest point after about 40 minutes.
We were completely on our own. Only much later we discovered an other couple that apparently camped on the mountain. By the way, this is actually not allowed. There are a lot of signs that show that camping is prohibited. Nevertheless you can see an unbelievable amount of pictures showing tents set up on this spot on Instagram.
It was a cloudy sunrise and not what I had expected. We decided to return to the hut and started the descent. But on the way back the sky cleared up and the first sunrays fell down on the valley. It was incredibly beautiful and we had to stop every few meters to take pictures. On the way back we also met some friendly donkeys.
We arrived in time for breakfast at the hut, met a few more photographers shortly before and asked which lakes we should visit in the afternoon. The Lago di Braies was originally planned. But we hadn’t heard much good about this lake since it is said to be too crowded as Instagram Spot. Everyone in the fermeda hut told us to skip this and visit Lake Dobbiaco and Dune Lake instead. And that’s what we did.
